Mapping Yes

This is just a little site collating & mapping participants & groups in Scotland's peaceful campaign for self determination. (Independence)

You have a variety of options to view data on a map. In descending order of usefulness.

  • If you have a half decent internet connection, by far the best method is to add the data into Google Earth as a Network Link. This will then load the data direct from the remote server, and will update itself each time you launch Google Earth. See here for instructions on how to do this. It's actually very straightforward.
  • You can download the raw KMZ file to run offline in Google Earth by clicking here.
This is more long winded than the 1st method, but results in the same ability to turn individual layers on & off for clarity. However it won't update your GE automatically. You'll need to download the KMZ each time you want new data, but it really is simple. Here's a video of how it's done in OSX.

  • Or, use the links to right to access maps in either 2d or 3d.
These options aren't the best options, but are included for ease. The maps are less interactive, lack features, or features don't work well. Also Google have apparently stopped supporting the method which is used to embed these into the website, so they may be temperamental, may not update as fast when new data is saved, or may not work at all from time to time.
  • By clicking this link you should get a full screen map in your web browser and may even be lucky enough to get data overlaid onto it. This should be the simplest & quickest method to get an overview of the data & see any updates, but certain data seems to render it inoperative, & it provides very little interactivity.

If your group doesn't appear yet, and you'd like to submit it for inclusion, the place to do so is here.

Importantly, many of the groups are regional and the markers may not be exactly where meetings take place. So, please do not go using this map to program your GPS. I won't be responsible for anybody ending up in the middle of a field of dubs wondering where a Yes meeting is.
Gradually there will be links added into the markers as Facebook pages etc are found. Follow them, or Google for the group you're looking for.

Finally, if you've got any questions, Twitter's the place.
